10 mins prep + 15 mins prep | wait 1 - 3 months 

YIELD: Approx. 3 cups

  1. Pick leaves and wash in cold water.
  2. Dry leaves between paper towels.
  3. Coarsly chop leaves and place them in a 1 litre container. (needs to have a lid)
  4. Add Vodka and Brandy; attach lid and shake contents.
  5. Store in a cool, dark place for 1 week.
  6. Place a fine mesh strainer over a clean container.
  7. Pour the Vodka mixture through the strainer; this will remove the used mint leaves.
  8. Discard the leaves.
  9. Transfer the liquid to a new container (that also has a lid)
  10. Heat sugar and water in a pan; bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
  11. When liquid becomes clear, remove from heat.
  12. When liquid is still just warm, add it to the Vodka mixture.
  13. Place lid on container and shake contents.
  14. Write the 'date' and 'contents' on a label.
  15. Age liqueur for 1 to 3 months before serving.
  16. It will seem like a long 3 months!!

When the wait is over, this can be made into the Grasshopper Cocktail, that is very popular.  Other uses are:  serve it over ice, add it to a glass of sparkling white wine, or mix it with a little heavy cream.  It is also really good over vanilla ice cream!  This liqueur can be used in any cocktail the asks for Crème de Menthe.
